Little Cutie

So my guessing game project turned out to not be so...shall we say great?
It looked nothing like an owl, which is what I was going for. I was going to cut the stitches and try to restitch the ears to look more 'owlie', but I was intimidated by the fact that I couldn't find the wip stitches I had sewn the little guy together with. Bums. Oh well, maybe I'll turn it into something else and put it up here some other time. Anyways, I restarted with a smaller, more compact owllette. Very cute. Alls well.

While the daughter's away...

Mom will play!

this is a pattern I found and produced. It was my first time following a crochet pattern. I didn't put a liner in it and left it at home. On friday my mom sent a text along the lines of "My coworker loves your purse oh and I put a liner in it." With this picture attached:

What a swell lady. Although I'm pretty sure she only did it as incentive for me to get to work on her birthday present. I'm on to you mom.

Photo Friday

My blog keeps inspiring me.
I really liked the experimental post for 2KCBW
So I wanna do it every friday. It helps me clean out my desktop of all the pictures I've pulled off the internet that amuse me and everyone gets to see them.
So without hesitation, here's what's on my desktop.

Now I can file them away in my ever-growing pictures album!

Wednesday's Hump Day

Lookie what blog week prompted me to do!

I'm working on the sleeve (finally) of my long and forgotten sweater. I'm this much closer to finishing the whooolllee thing. Working on this sleeve has made me recognize something. I really must hate working things in pairs. I swear it's the most annoying feeling. You get so close, and feel like you finish something and then your left with the feeling of oh yeah...I still have another one of the same thing to make. Socks, sleeves, sweater fronts and backs. More reason for me to never finish anything.

Anyways.
This is one of my favorite bands

The Avett Brothers. Recentally, they became quite popular.

I work merch for the music festival they came to two weekends ago.

I love them so much, but they brought the worst merch. One CD and one shirt? Get real.

I must of not have been the only one who felt this way, I got a lot of noise thrown at me from people frustrated that these things were their only options. I really want to tell these people that there's nothing I can do about things like that, but they tend not to believe me and blame it on us anyways. My favorite story of the night was a woman who got mad at me because I would escort her backstage to let the band member sign her pants. She also told me (when I told her they weren't coming out to sign CDs), that they've gotten too big for their britches.
I thought of this from the point of the musician, seeing as I would dream of being famous someday. Really, I don't think you should have to come out and sign CDs if you don't want to. You don't owe your audience, even if they did buy your merch and contributed to your success. They did this because they like your music, not you as a person. I talked to one of my friends who was also playing at the same festival and she was telling me about how none of the musicians would be caught dead playing with the avett brothers. You don't have to like the person, just the music they produce. Musicians do not deserve to be harrassed by people. Most of the musicians I've met, would rather just decompress alone after a show than come out and sign CDs. I know I would.
That's all I really have to say about that.

Caturday! Day 6

It's CATurday

Day six: Saturday, 2nd April. Something to aspire to
Is there a pattern or skill that you don’t yet feel ready to tackle but which you hope to (or think you can only dream of) tackling in the future, near or distant? Is there a skill or project that makes your mind boggle at the sheer time, dedication and mastery of the craft? Maybe the skill or pattern is one that you don’t even personally want to make but can stand back and admire those that do. Maybe it is something you think you will never be bothered to actually make bu can admire the result of those that have.

I want to master socks, because some of the patterns out there are just too cool. There's something about the turn of the heal that keeps getting me. Haunts my dreams. Not really, but it is really frustrating that I can't seem to just spit socks out like some people can.

I also want need to learn how to block. I've not started a lace project and most of the things I do, don't require it so therefore, never learned it. My mom sent me an email with a link on how to block properly. I've looked at it and it seems easy enough, I've just got to get around to making something that requires it. (Plus I need the equipment)

Blocking reminds me of what's next on my list of projects, lace. It's kind of intimidating. I think it's gorgeous and I really want to give it a go, hoping that nothing bad happens along the way. I have the attention span of a gnat am really busy most of the time and not really into having big projects that I can't finish right away. But I think lace would be worth giving a year or two to finish. It may seem like a long time, but lets not forget, I still haven't finished this.

What's everyone else's aspirations?

Day 5

Day Five: Friday, 1st April. And now for something completely different
This is an experimental blogging day to try and push your creativity in blogging to the same level that you perhaps push your creativity in the items you create.
There are no rules of a topic to blog about (though some suggestions are given below) but this post should look at a different way to present content on your blog. This can take one of many forms, but here a few suggestions:

  • Wordless, photographic post
  • Video blog post
  • Podcast
  • Cartoon/sketch of an idea
  • Write about a subject from a different perspective (for example, you could write about a day in the life of a knitted sock from the point of view of the sock).
  • Interpretive modern dance (why does someone always suggest this?)
  • A poem or piece of rhyming verse
  • Stop motion animation

Here's some pictures I have on my laptop's desktop

Have a wonderful, funny, friday.
